Rumor: Gracie vs. Hughes for UFC 112

Sources say there is a good chance we'll see Renzo Gracie take on Matt Hughes as a co-main event for UFC 112. It's no secret that there's bad blood between these two.

Top UFC Welterweight contender Josh Koscheck has been forced out of UFC 109 due to an undisclosed injury.
"It's all good & I'll get my body rested & back to the top real soon." - Josh Koscheck

UFC 110

If you ask me this card looks like every single fight will be an awesome one. I'm pretty sure that the winner of Nogueira vs. Velasquez will get a title shot be it against who ever is champion at the time (Lesnar, Carwin or Mir). In my opinion Mr. Bisping has no chance of defeating the "Axe Murderer" especially since it's almost a guarantee that come fight time Wanderlei will be the heavier and stronger of the two. All in all, it should be a great night of fights.

•MAIN CARD•
-------------------
• Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez
• Michael Bisping vs. Wanderlei Silva
• George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Stevenson
• Ryan Bader vs. Keith Jardine
• Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Ben Rothwell

Cung Le Returns

Cung Le is set to make his long awaited return to the cage at Strikeforce “Evolution” against Scott Smith on Dec. 19 in San Jose, CA. Cung Le recently relinquished his Strikeforce middleweight title to pursue a film career. The San Shou veteran looks to continue in his winning ways since defeating Frank Shamrock last March.

"The Truth" vs. "Bones" Set for UFC Fight Night 21

Brandon "The Truth" Vera is set to fight Jon "Bones" Jones at UFC Fight Night Mar 21, 2010.

UFC Fight Night 20: Diaz vs. Maynard

The way I see it, the winner of the Diaz (11-4) vs. Maynard (9-0) fight should face Frankie Edgar (shown below) to decide the next #1 contender for "The Prodigy's" lightweight championship.

•MAIN CARD•
---------------------
• Nate Diaz vs. Gray Maynard
• Evan Dunham vs. Efrain Escudero
• Tom Lawlor vs. Aaron Simpson
• Brad Blackburn vs. Amir Sadollah

•PRELIMINARY CARD•
---------------------
• Chris Leben vs. Jay Silva
• Jesse Lennox vs. Rick Story
• Nik Lentz vs. Thiago Tavares
• Mike Guymon vs. Rory MacDonald
• Kyle Bradley vs. Rafael dos Anjos
• Nick Catone vs. Steve Steinbeiss

One Step Closer to Making it Official

Apparently my previous fear is looking like it may become a reality. Shane Carwin has confirmed that he will most likely be fighting in March at UFC 111, but no word yet (officially) on who? Rumor has it being against Frank Mir for the interim heavyweight title.

From Shane Carwin's official website:
I expect to make my return to the UFC in March 2010. I will be fighting in Newark New Jersey at UFC 111. I have not signed any contracts yet but I have told my manager to inform UFC Matchmaker that "I accept the offer".

I will have been out of the Octagon for about a year when this fight happens but I expect to be in the best shape of my life.

I do hope to someday get the opportunity to punch Brock a few times and hope he has a speedy and full recovery. I look forward to fighting again, fighting is what I love to do.

I have a ton of respect for my proposed opponent. He has a good stand up game and can be effective on the ground. The only way to become the best fighter is to continually challenge yourself against the best fighters in the World.

I will let everyone know when the fight is "officially signed". Thank you for your support and thank you to my generous sponsors who have supported me on this road to the title.

-Shane

Shane Carwin set for a Shot at the Interim HW Title

Most likely to take place at UFC 111, but wait......... against who?... Frank Mir?... Why?!? I completely disagree with this. I hope this doesn't happen. In my opinion I feel Shane Carwin should take on the winner of the upcoming fight between Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Nogueira to decide the interim champ. Ok, so Frank Mir is fresh off a win against Cheick Kongo, with all due respect, Kongo was in no way considered a top rank heavyweight at the time of his bout with Mir. Have we forgotten the massive beating that Mir received courtesy of sidelined heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 100 just prior to his fight with Cheick? Say it ain't so Joe Silva, say it ain't so.

The Axe Murderer's Next Victim in a New Division

Feb. 21 in Sydney, Australia will mark Wanderlei Silva's return to the octagon since his unanimous decision loss to Rich Franklin. This time around Silva will take on Michael Bisping in his first fight as a middleweight (185 lbs) in the UFC. Lets hope this division will be a better fit for Wandy as he looks forward to a shot at #1 contendership for Anderson Silva's middleweight championship.

WEC 46: Varner vs. Henderson

If you haven't seen a WEC event yet, this next night of fights should be a great example of the talent that World Extreme Cagefighting has to offer. Former featherweight champion Urijah Faber looks to earn a shot at reclaiming the belt with a win over Raphael Assuncao. Of course not taking anything away from what should be an awesome fight between lightweight champ Jamie Varner and current interim lightweight champ Benson Henderson to crown the Undisputed lightweight champion.

•MAIN CARD•
-----------------------------------------
• Jamie Varner vs. Benson Henderson (to unify the Lightweight Championship)
• Raphael Assuncao vs. Urijah Faber
• Mackens Semerzier vs. Deividas Taurosevicius
• Akitoshi Tamura vs. Charlie Valencia

•PRELIMINARY CARD•
-----------------------------------------
• Wagnney Fabiano vs. Frank Gomez
• Dave Jansen vs. Kamal Shalorus
• Mark Hominick vs. Yves Jabouin
• Rafael Rebello vs. Eddie Wineland

A Main Event for the New Year

Evans vs. Silva is definitely not a bad way to kick off 2010. Although the main card may lack some star power names for the casual fan, ask around or do a little research and you'll find that you won't want to miss Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout. Taking nothing away from the main event, Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel has the makings to easily take "Fight of the Night" honors. Overall the card looks good on paper but what do you expect from the genius that is Joe Silva.

•MAIN CARD•
----------------------------
• Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
• Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
• Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel
• Dan Lauzon vs. Cole Miller

•PRELIMINARY CARD•
----------------------------
• Steve Cantwell vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
• Ryan Jensen vs. Mark Munoz
• Jake Ellenberger vs. Mike Pyle

Who Can Stop The Prodigy?

After my first look at Diego's face (post fight) I asked myself, Who in the lightweight division really has a chance at beating Penn? In my humble opinion... NOBODY. I mean a few hopefuls come to mind, there's Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard maybe even a sequel with Kenny Florian. At this point it's safe to say that when it comes to talent there's a massive distance between the lightweight champ and the rest of the division.
